1. The Idea

In Chapter 28.3 (which was December 23, 2022), I wrote about the The Horse Pump

2. The Planning

In the exchange of views with Adler about the Royal Fence, the horse pump also came up for discussion.
Adler suggested making a pump crank from brass based on photos and sketches I provided.
I received a set of 3 cranks (A-9180), together with the Lindau Fence and Spielwaage, on Monday, October 2, 2023.

3. Construction

On Tuesday 3 Ocotber 2023, I started working on the crank, not least to get used to handling brass.

Even with the smallest nail I had, I still had to make the 0.4 mm hole a little wider.

The handle should hang all the way to the left for proper pumping swing.

Just as we had envisioned... 

Gloss black added for colour.

Now, somehow I felt that the water pump did not yet have the cachet I had in mind.

Not only was it still in the wrong place, but it also lacked a fitting water basin at its base.

Until, in my box of spare parts, I found a window frame from the Weinkellerei, whose opening not only fitted,

but whose raised edge formed precisely that beautiful cover of the cobblestones I was looking for.

With that, the whole thing was turned a quarter turn, and now the water pump fits perfectly into the street scene.

Even the crank is now visible. 

Perfect fit!

Pressing into the cobblestones, to cutting the upper layer it carefully away.

"Sorry, Jimmy... I just had to...!"

Since the styrofaom tends to lift the piece, I glued it with white glue and 'hammer press' to fix it firmly.

Promissing...

Now the horse water pump stands in a perfect position, aesthetically pleasing to its surroundings and practical to passers-by.

A little water from Noch came in handy to give the stones some shine.

The pump had just been used by a woman who came to fetch water
