In
the upper room of Rathaus Allmannsdorf
domains
the meeting hall.
Here the Town Council resides.
Portraits
of 15th century Reformers John Calvin, Martin Luther
and Philip Melanchton
are
watching contemplatively from the walls, where visitors are sitting
at the large table in the middle, waiting for things to be said, to be
heard or to be silenced about.
Diner
will be served within the hour. And while the table is being prepared, guests can retreat
in the antechamber, where
a good book
and a fine wine can be found.
The
floor and walls are made out of timber wood.
A
large fire place, made out of natural bricks from River Loreley clay,
is
heating this ancient room.
There's
real wood in the hearth, safely held back by an iron arts work.
In
the dark you can see the fire glow red and yellow.
More wood is piled up
at the right of the hearth.
